Overview
The ocean is a special place to all of us here at Surfrider. We have all taken our rewards from the ocean environment, whether it be through surfing, swimming, kayaking or numerous other water activities, and so we feel strongly about giving back to mother nature. No one enjoys surfing or swimming in trash, especially not us!

As an organization, Rhode Island Surfrider volunteers help keep local beaches and surf breaks clean by participating in monthly cleanups that are held all year long. Twice a year, statewide cleanups are held in October (Trick or Trash) and in April (Earth Day). During these cleanups, hundreds of volunteers clean up thousands of pounds of trash along the Rhode Island Coastline. Additionally, Rhode Island Surfrider has officially "adopted" the stretch of land in Narragansett from the Coastguard House to Monaghan's Pier. Cleanups are held here bi-monthly during the summer months and monthly throughout the year.

We could not do this without the help of our volunteers of course, as they are the heart of Surfrider. Thanks to them, Rhode Islanders are able to enjoy a cleaner and safer environment.
